Back in August, East Village (the new community on the site of the London 2012 Athletes’ Village that will open next year) launched a Facebook competition looking for the best pictures of the capital from the summer, ‘My Summer of London‘.
The 25 winners and runners up, selected from a field of over 500, are now on show in the Getty Images Gallery at Westfield Stratford City until 16th December – submitted by professionals and amateurs, some amazing images have been brought together in this collection. In particular there’s a very good shot of the O2 by David Gardener and a lovely (and rather patriotic) photograph of a typical visit to the Olympic Park during the London 2012 games by Kemey Lafond.
If I’m honest, one or two of the images that were shortlisted didn’t really shout ‘Summer’ to me, and sadly the photographs that I submitted (which I thought were very good images on the theme) didn’t make the cut, but don’t let that put you off from visiting!
As well as showing the ‘My Summer Of London’ images, the Getty Images Gallery has a vast array of fantastic prints for sale at the moment, many of which have been heavily discounted. With a broad selection covering everything from London street scenes to Hollywood starlets, one of their prints would make an ideal Christmas gift.
