The 2012 Shit London Awards Ceremony Approaches – 24 Hours Left For Entries

Those of us who live in London know that while we have some of the most stunning buildings, finest restaurants and prettiest open spaces in the world, the capital is also littered with some terrible architectural mistakes.

Shit London began as a Facebook group to ‘celebrate’ these tragedies. As well as taking photographs of horrendous buildings, contributors are also invited to submit pictures of misspelt signs, strange shops and more…

The group has now announced the criteria for it’s 2012 annual awards ceremony. They are:

  • Ugliest Building In London
  • Best/Worst Shop Name
  • Most Depressing View From Work
  • Best Picture (interpret that as you will)

The most accomplished entries will also be entered into a shortlist from which the ‘Best British Photo‘ and ‘Best International Photo‘ will be selected.

This year’s Shit London awards ceremony will take place at the KK Outlet, Hoxton Square on 6 December and there is still 24 hours for you to get your submissions in!

To enter, simply e-mail your photo along with information on where you took it and your reasons for doing so to the following address, with the subject line “AWARDS”:

[email protected]

Winners will be notified by email, but the awards ceremony itself is open to everyone – winners and losers.

If you come across particularly ugly or noteworthy sights during your travels across London you can email them to Shit London for inclusion on the site at any time of year, using the email address above.

If you need some inspiration, here are some of the winners which were selected last year – they’re also included in a new book produced by editor Patrick Dalton recently, entitled ‘Shit London 2‘:
