From today, 5 October, the Getty Gallery at Westfield Stratford City is playing host to “The Collection of Tompkins and Bush: Michael Jackson Wardrobe”.
For many years Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins designed costumes for Jackson’s music videos and tours, and this exhibition features dozens of items worn by the ‘King of Pop’. Some of the fascinating items that you’ll be able to see include:
- Jackson’s signature right-handed crystal glove
- the outfit worn by Jackson for the ‘Scream’ video
- a slick suit from the ‘Smooth Criminal’ pop video
- the illuminated helmet worn by Jackson at the 30th Anniversary of the Madison Square Garden Show

Many of the pieces on show at the exhibition feature in an illustrated book published by Michael Bush this time last year, ‘The King of Style: Dressing Michael Jackson“.
