Remembering London’s Docks At Prince Regent

Just to the side of Prince Regent’s DLR station, which serves the eastern end of the ExCeL London conference centre, you’ll find a small bus station which offers connecting services that go to Plaistow and to the City Airport.

Rather mundane you might think, but what’s intriguing about it is the public art that’s on display above the fencing separating ExCeL and the main road – a pictorial history of the docks, from their establishment in the 18th and 19th centuries through the firestorms that ravaged the area in the Second World War to the emergence of the London Docklands Development Corporation in the 1980s.
