aMAZEme – A Reader’s Dream Come True @ The Royal Festival Hall

aMAZEme is the new art and literary installation which has taken over the lower ground floor exhibition space at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank.

Made up of five hundred square meters of second-hand, remaindered and new books, the aMAZEme labyrinth was created by Brazilian artists Marcos Saboya and Gualter Pupo and is inspired by the fingerprint of the famed writer and educator Jorge Luis Borges. In a nod to Borges’ role in promoting literacy and a love of reading in his native Argentina, visitors are invited to take one of the 250,000 books off the top of the stacks, take a seat and read them, although with the polite reminder that they should return them to the stacks when they are finished!
